Color Schemes

 02.jpg

This image is using analogous color scheme, using colors of red, orange, and brown, its also using warm colors to create space .

03.jpgThis image is using shades of blue adding depth and the lighter blue in the back makes it look likes its far away and its also using cool colors to create a soothing impression.

04.jpg I think this is using secondary colors because its using mixes of greens and blues and yellows.

05.gif This image is using a little bit of split complementary color scheme because its using greens, oranges, and dark red-ish orange.

01.jpg This image is using triadic color scheme, its using green, orange, and purple.
1.Why is file management (organizing your design files) an integral part of the job/assignment process?

-It is more easy to find your work and it makes you look organized and responsible.

2.What is the resolution necessary for printing raster images (images from Photoshop)?

-300 Dpi

3.What is the resolution necessary for displaying images on a monitor or website?

-72 Dpi

4.Name the principles of design and define each in your own words?

Balance- The image has to be balanced with color, lines, etc

Proportion-The image should be proportionate and pleasing to the eye

Rhythm-The image should be equal and have even amount of space between the object

Emphasis- The man idea of the image should be emphasized and should have details that draw your eyes to it

Unity- The image itself should be unified the object should be corresponding with things around it

Review Week 9

1.Compare and contrast vector graphics and pixel images.
-Vector graphics are creating images with lines and its like connecting the dots and Pixel images are paintings that have dots called pixels.
2.What resolution is necessary to print raster images?
-300 dpi

Review Week 8

Why must designers pay close attention to how color is utilized within a composition?- Helps viewers maximize productivity and minimize visual fatigue to relax the whole body

Why is the color wheel an important tool for graphic designers?
- It helps the designers with putting together primary and secondary colors

Find an example of neutral colors utilized within a design (hint: google poster design). Near the sample, discuss why you feel the designer included neutral colors within the composition.

This poster has brown as its background color and it makes the red stand out making your eye go to the hat and the hat has the main point of the design on it so i think that the designer did a good job of placing everything and he placed colors and how he placed them.

Briefly describe how we "see" the color of an object?
-We see the reflected color

Podcast #2 Color Theory

The right use of color can do what?
-Maximize productivity and minimize visual fatigue to relax the whole body
Within the electromagnetic spectrum, which waves allow us to see color?
-Visible light
How do we see color if objects "have no color of their own"?
-Reflected color
What is a glass prism?
-Transparent triangular object that breaks white light into all the colors of the visible light spectrum
What seven colors result when white light is refracted through a prism?
-Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet
Describe hue?
-The color itself, each different hue is a different reflected wavelength
When does white light occur?
-All wavelengths are reflected back to your eye
When does black light occur?
-No light is reflected back to your eye
How color is perceived depends on what?
-Type of light it is seen with
What is a color wheel?
-Visual tool that shows the relationship between primary secondary tertiary colors
What are primary colors? Name them?
-Red, Blue, and Yellow
What are secondary colors? Name them?
-Two primary colors mixed together, Orange, Green, and Violet
What are tertiary colors? Name them?
-Primary and secondary colors together, named by the colors used to create them
What are neutral colors? How can they be created?
-Don’t show up on the color wheel, colors of very low saturation
How can a neutral color help a design?
-Help put the focus on other colors
What are complementary colors? Name them?
-Positioned opposite of each other on the color wheel, Red, Green, Orange, Blue, Violet, and Yellow
What is color value?
-Lightness and Darkness of a hue or color
What is a shade?
-Adding black to a hue to produce a low-value color
What is a tint?
-Adding white to a hue to produce a high-value color
What is saturation/intensity?
-Brightness of a color
What happens when you mix complementary colors together?
-Produce a dull tone and increase color intensity
Describe color harmony?
-A pleasing arrangement of parts, music, poetry, color and engages the viewers creating a sense of order
What is a color scheme?
-harmonious color combinations
Describe a monochromatic color scheme?
-Uses tints and shades values of one color
Describe an analogous color scheme?
-Uses three colors adjacent to each other on the color wheel
Describe a complementary color scheme?
-Uses 2 colors opposite each other on the color wheel, will draw a lot of attention
Describe a split-complementary color scheme?
-Uses 3 colors, 1 color adjacent to its compliment
Describe a triadic color scheme?
-Uses 3 colors equally spaced around the color wheel
What colors are considered to be warm colors?
-Yellows, Oranges, and Reds
Describe a warm color scheme?
-Bold and energetic
What colors are considered to be cool colors?
-Greens, Blues, and Violets
Describe a cool color scheme?
-Calm and rarely overpowers main point in the design
Why is important to consider which colors are being used within a design? –Right color choice can convey right message and evoke the desired response to any form of visual communication
